Follow the dots to polkadot.

The wares at polkadot hit the spot. Fashion entrepreneur Dezi Gellman's got a thing for polka dots. And that's evident everywhere in polkadot, her newly opened shop on Old South Pearl Street, where a distinctly dotty theme bounces its way
through the merchandise, from a display of pastel-dotted latte cups to the chic silk scarves by local designer Lourdes Rios, which are draped across a wall using antiqued cast-iron alphabet hooks. Gellman, who tends the boutique herself, has even been observed wearing a bracelet of multicolored boiled-wool orbs.

"I chose it because it's timeless," she says of the fundamental graphic that's her store's namesake. "And I wanted this to be a
timeless gift shop." Conceived as a place to find elegant, useful, collectible or funny gifts for bridesmaids, wives, moms and
everyone's favorite - the shoppers themselves, polkadot truly runs the gamut, offering everything from toiletries to fake food, with plenty to browse through in between.

That ladylike hodgepodge includes Gellman's self-designed Dezi Bags, Ritzenhoff's mini-piggy banks designed by graphic artists, Davies Gate soaps (try the Peppermint Fizz Pop - a bath fizz ball filled with body oil and perched on a stick), locally made Elements Home Spa Escape kits, heavenly angelica-scented candles from La Luz or fun, fuzzy gloves in shiny, spicy colors.

And for the feminine funny bone, there are those aforementioned fake foods: sinfully dunkable "Faux Nuts," just-opened champagne bottles dripping with phony foam, chocolate strawberries and messy ice-cream cups like the ones your four-year-old stirred too long.
